Coming Out Stories!
This section is where you can come in. This is your way of saying your part to the world. Make them feeling accepted and tell them your experience when you came out or if you witnessed somebody come out as an LGBT member. It can be short, long, whatever you want to write regarding this topic, please do! We love to see courageous people tell their story and how they are to this day. We are all equal and no one should tell us otherwise!
Disclaimer: This section is for those that wish to tell people their experience when they came out or witnessed somebody come out to their friends/family. We fully comprehend if you do not wish to say your story, nobody is going to force you to do or say anything. You are your own person.

Hi all. I'm Nicholas Longstaff. I'm the Administration's manager for LGBT Luton. I thought I'd do my part and set an example for coming out stories. On November 5th 2011, I came out in one of the worst ways possible, through Facebook. Everyone thinks that it's a lot easier that way. Trust me, it isn't. That day, I had messaged my friend telling her that I was gay. She was more estatic than I was. That night, after much deliberation.... and a few drinks, I decided to post on Facebook: "I AM GAY AND FOR THOSE THAT DISAGREE WITH THIS CAN DEAL WITH IT!" I felt like a big weight had been lifted off of my shoulders. The response was huge in the space of an hour. Likes after likes and comment after comment, people telling me they were proud of what I had done, other remarks were not so nice, but I did not care at that point.
The next day, my cousin decided to ring up my mother at 8AM to tell her what I had said and done. My mother then rang me to ask if it was true what I posted on Facebook. From there on after, my family didn't really talk to me much for 6 months about what I had done. When they finally came round, they gave me a hug and told me they would support me, no matter what sexuality I was, they just wished I approached the matter from a different perspective.
It's now 2 years and 2 months later, I thorougly enjoy my life with my new partner. As the years went on, I moved back to England, and started to live my own independent life. I was an online counsellor for 6 months, helping people around the world with their coming out stories. It was an experience I will never forget, I made a lot of friends along the way. Eventually, happiness is just around the corner for anybody who wishes to seek it. The road in life is very bumpy, but at the end, it is very beautiful and filled with happiness.
It isn't easy at the start when you want to come out as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual or Transgender. There is a lot of criticism from different people. But if you stick to your own beliefs and block the haters out, you will eventually feel much better. This world is starting to realise equality, in one way or another, but it will all get better.
Well that's my little story, I hope you enjoyed reading it. I look forward to seeing how many of you courageous people tell us your story.
Bye for now.
